J World San Diego, The Performance Sailing School and Club, is dedicated to excellence in teaching. If you want to enjoy year-round sailing in perfect conditions and love to teach, we have openings available for full and part time instructor positions.
J World San Diego is a US SAILING certification school and we teach everything from Learn to Sail classes to Advanced Racing and Live Aboard Cruising. We teach above and beyond US SAILING standards and mainly cater to adults. The school uses exclusively top of the line J Boats, specifically the J/80, J/105 and the J/120. Some of our other programs include Corporate Teambuilding and our Premier Sailing Club.
The instructors are responsible for all aspects of the sailing program. Duties will include, but are not limited to, conducting sailing classes, presenting the curriculum on the water and in the classroom, administrative duties relating to courses, providing assistance to our Sailing Club members, power boat operation, conducting safety and equipment checks and boat maintenance.
Classes are conducted every day of the week, so we can accommodate schedules that would best fit your availability and the needs of the School. The instructors work day typically goes from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The applicant (M/F) must have a US SAILING Keelboat Instructor's Certification or equivalent experience as well an up-to-date Red Cross CPR / First-Aid certification. A USCG captain's license, as well as some race experience and a college degree are all strongly recommended, but not required.
