All skippers of yachts sailing in Spain must have a suitable certificate of competence to show to the maritime authorities in the base port prior to departure. This must be equivalent to the RYA’s International Certificate of Competence (ICC), which is a basic level qualification - almost any other certificate issued by a national authority for yachting above Day Skipper level will be suitable.
